Terrasolid major version number has changed from 010 to 0011 in 23nd February 2011. To use the new versions you need new licenses. The licenses can be either Windows network or node-locked workstation licenses.
New network licenses shall be saved in /terra/pool011 folder of Server. Users extract licenses by License Manager for selected applications and a given period from the pool to their workstation or laptop. Network licenses are flexibile compared to PC-locked licenses. Terrasolid network license system runs only in Windows local area networks (LAN). It can be extented to remote locations through Internet with VPN or WAN.
To take network licenses in use:
- 1. Select some network PC, e.g. your own PC, which is not an ordinary server. Terra License Server is not a service but an application. Ckilc on Service, if you like to make service from Terra License Server.
- 2. Download License Server 011.xxx under Downloads >Software Packages > Microsoft Windows.
- 3. Read its User's guide, if you install the software first time.
- 4. Install with administrator's rights License Server to server and License Manager to client PCs.
- 5. Please notice: Users must have Standard Windows + READ AND WRITE rights to /terra/license folder to load licenses with Manager from Server.Terrasolid recommends highly that /terra/license folder is in user's workstation (not inpublic folder).
- 6. Register server by selecting File > Server information > Open Web in License Server window. This opens Terrasolid's registration site.
- 7. If you register at first time, select category 'New Customer' . If you have registered before and want only change your server name, select 'Valid customer'. As Valid customer skip 'invoice' and 'serial' numbers by just pressing 'Proceed' to continue registration.
- 8. After server registration Terrasolid sends within some days your licenses. Copy the new licenses to /terra/pool010 folder and restart Terra License Server.
- 9 . Install new packages of version 011. They run 10 days without any license after their first loading under MicroStation. Please notice, that Terrasolid applications and License Manager must be installed to same folder. Terrasolid recommends C:/terra/ as default. If the folders differ, check that the license search path is correct under MicroStation settings.
- 10. Check (File> Settings) that License Server and Manager have same Access code (e.g.12345) and select server PC from Manager.
- 11. Test the connection between server and clients. View> Server State of Manager must show available licenses in pool.
- 12 If the server and workstations are in different IP networks the Domain Trust must be valid. If you encounter problem:
- Test connection.
- Read FAQ and look at the animations on right if you encounter problems.
- 13 Enter 'Max. duration' under File> Settings of License Server. In general 7 days or less is a good lenght for the duration.
If you have version 010 packages and like to swap between version 010 and version 011, please view this animation.When you do no more need the old licenses of V010, please return them to /terra/pool010 of your server and delete them.
